Douglas A. Shields was named Chief of Yellow Breeches EMS Inc. on January 1, 2018, after nearly nineteen years of service in almost every corner of emergency medical services in Mount Holly Springs. Prior to Chief, Doug served as President from 2014-2018.
Doug is currently employed at Yellow Breeches EMS as full-time EMS Director/Chief of a department with thirty-four employees. He has also served the community of Shippensburg as a volunteer Firefighter and EMS provider with Shippensburg Fire Department for more than thirty years. Chief Shields’s past assignments have included: Fire Chief of two different departments, Captain, Safety Officer, Deputy Chief, Assistant Chief, and EMT for thirty years.
Doug is not only willing to pioneer new pathways and direct the organization in advancements and continuous improvement, but he also works daily alongside crews to bring training, education, and emergency services to the community. Since the age of fourteen, he has worked tirelessly to serve the community, with no question other than “How can I help?” Doug’s greatest personal accomplishment is found when clarity is achieved in a chaotic or difficult situation, and he feels most successful when lines of communication are restored, when work environments are peaceful, and when people are helped.
Doug is a graduate from Shippensburg Area High School and received his associate degree in criminal justice from Liberty University. He is also a veteran with fifteen years of service in the Armed Forces.
