Eligibility—Who Are Our Stars?

All employees of ambulance services are eligible for nomination for the AAA Stars of Life program. All nominees are recognized as Stars. Examples of individuals commonly nominated include:

State-level Star of Life or other award program recipient
Employee of the year
On-duty or off-duty services above and beyond the call of duty such as special rescue or setting of significant records
Notable community contributions such as volunteer work, local leadership, partnerships with other organizations or agencies
Significant community distinction or honors related to ambulance, public safety, public health or health care services
Consistent service record that exemplifies your ambulance operation’s mission

Please note that we encourage individuals being honored posthumously to be recognized through the National EMS Memorial Service.

Nominate Your Stars!

Online Nomination & Registration Process

The Stars of Life online registration process is completed by one person, the company contact, for all attendees from your ambulance service. All fields are required, INCLUDING HEADSHOT FOR STARS, and the form cannot save partially completed registrations. AAA strongly recommends assembling all materials for each Star, Host, and Guest before beginning online registration.

For each Star, you will need:

Name and job title as they should appear on the website and in print recognition
Email address (MUST BE UNIQUE—use of a host’s email will overwrite the host’s account. If no email exists for your star, please invent one ending @mailinator.com.)
Full HOME address
All zip codes for which you’d like Hill meetings scheduled
A brief bio and details about why they are being nominated for Stars of Life. Need help writing this? Download our Stars bio examples (Word doc download)!
A high-resolution headshot photo that is AT LEAST 750x750px. Read tips for taking great headshots with a smart phone.
Names and relationships of guests attending with your Stars. Please also be prepared to note which guests are young children.

For each Host and Guest, you will need:

Name
Job title (Hosts only)
Cell number (Hosts only)
Email address (MUST BE UNIQUE, even for children—use of another person’s email will overwrite the host’s account. If no email exists or is unknown, please invent one ending @mailinator.com.)
Relationship to Star or Host (spouse, friend, parent, child, etc.)

Please also be prepared to note which, if any, guests are young children.

Registration opens in July, and closes October 1. Late submissions cannot be accomodated.

Photography Policy

Photographers may accompany the Stars and their families throughout the course of the Stars of Life event, and Stars, Hosts, and their guests may be featured in photographs documenting the event. Use of the photographs includes, but is not limited to, publication on the American Ambulance Association’s website and social media accounts.

Honoring Our Veterans

Veterans helped bring EMS as we know it to our nation, and many EMS professionals have served in the military on active duty or in the reserves. This year’s Stars of Life event will take place over Veterans Day (November 11), and the American Ambulance Association will be working to provide special recognition for Stars with a military background. Please be sure to include details of military service in the nomination biographies for any Stars who have this experience.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Cancellations received in writing at HELLO@AMBULANCE.ORG by August 1, 2024 will be refunded less a 25% penalty. Cancellations received from August 2 to October 1, 2024 will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued after October 1, 2024. No refunds will be issued for no-shows. Credit cannot be held for a future year.

Conditions of Participation for Stars of Life

The Stars of Life event provides an extraordinary opportunity for emergency medical services professionals from across the country to gather in our nation’s capitol to celebrate and advocate for mobile healthcare excellence. By registering to attend, participants in Stars of Life agree to abide by our conditions of participation.

Payment Options

After entering all Star, Host, and Guest information, you will have the option to remit payment via credit card onscreen, or to view a printable invoice to mail in with your check.
