Michael Wholihan

Michael Wholihan serves as Financial Coordinator and an EMT with MFPAA, bringing together financial expertise, operational understanding, and a genuine passion for emergency medical services.

Michael’s interest in EMS began while working at the University of Pittsburgh, where he assisted in securing grants for the Center for Emergency Medicine. He also earned his Doctoral Degree in Administration & Policy Study. What began as a professional interest grew into a true passion for EMS and, ultimately, a commitment to supporting the mission of MFPAA.

In nearly three years with the organization, Michael has played an instrumental role in several significant accomplishments. He coordinated MFPAA’s successful pursuit of accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS), secured numerous grants to upgrade vehicles and equipment, and obtained funding to support the development of a new substation. He has also helped secure financial support from each of the five municipalities MFPAA serves.

While much of Michael’s work takes place behind the scenes, its impact reaches throughout the organization. Funding for vehicles, equipment, facilities, and operations helps ensure that MFPAA’s clinicians have the resources they need to respond when members of the community call for help. His service as an EMT gives him an additional understanding of those needs and connects his financial responsibilities directly to the organization’s patient-care mission.

Michael is known as someone who arrives ready to work and rarely slows down. He approaches challenges with energy, dedication, and a positive attitude while remaining willing to step in wherever he is needed. His team-first approach and commitment to the organization have made him a valued colleague and an important part of MFPAA’s continued growth.

Through his financial leadership, service as an EMT, resourcefulness, and commitment to strengthening his organization, Michael demonstrates the many ways an individual can make a meaningful difference in emergency medical services.
