Eric Wilson
Assistant Chief of Operations
Rescue Inc.
Eric Wilson is a Paramedic and Assistant Chief with Rescue Inc., where he has served since April 2015. A lifelong resident of the region, Eric has devoted his career to serving the rural Vermont communities he calls home, advancing from field provider to a trusted operational leader.
Eric became a licensed Paramedic in 2018 and has steadily taken on greater responsibility throughout his career. As Assistant Chief, he helps oversee operations across a service area spanning nearly 500 square miles, where rural geography can add significant complexity to emergency response. His steady leadership helps ensure that crews, resources, and operations remain prepared to meet the needs of communities throughout the region.
His influence extends beyond Rescue Inc. Eric serves on the district EMS board and has contributed to numerous state and local committees, bringing his operational experience to discussions that help shape EMS policy and service delivery throughout the region.
Eric’s career also includes distinguished service during some of the most challenging circumstances first responders encounter. In March 2018, while serving as a Lieutenant and Paramedic, Eric responded with his team to a serious multiple-casualty incident in New Hampshire. Their response earned the New Hampshire Fire Service & EMS Unit Citation. Later that year, Eric’s work supporting members of the U.S. Armed Forces contributed to Rescue Inc.’s receipt of the Pro Patria Award, presented by the Vermont National Guard and Governor Phil Scott in recognition of the organization’s support of Guard and Reserve service members.
Eric was also part of the team recognized with the Higgins and Langley Swiftwater Rescue Incident Award for its response during the Great Vermont Flood of July 10, 2023. The recognition reflects another dimension of Eric’s career: a willingness to serve with skill and composure when his community faces extraordinary circumstances.
That commitment does not end with his responsibilities at Rescue Inc. Eric also serves as a volunteer firefighter and Rescue Captain with Newbrook Fire, extending his leadership and emergency response experience to another organization serving his community.
Outside of his professional and volunteer responsibilities, Eric treasures time with his wife, Emily, and their two children. He also enjoys hunting and spending time outdoors, interests that reflect his lifelong connection to the rural Vermont landscape he has dedicated his career to protecting.
Through his steady leadership, deep community roots, and sustained commitment to serving others, Eric exemplifies the finest traditions of rural emergency medical services. Rescue Inc. is proud to recognize Eric Wilson as an American Ambulance Association Star of Life.
