Michael Fenwick has dedicated nearly 40 years to emergency medical services, including 30 years serving his community as a member of Medic Ambulance Service. His career has spanned military medicine, civilian EMS, critical care, and Community Paramedicine, reflecting an enduring commitment to patients and the EMS profession.

Michael began his EMS career in the military at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he served as an active-duty ground medic from 1987 to 1990. Assigned to the 690th Medical Company, he provided emergency and routine medical treatment on base. In 1988, Michael was part of one of the first groups of combat medics at Fort Benning to become nationally registered Emergency Medical Technicians.

His commitment to military and emergency medical service continued with the California Army National Guard, where he later served as a Flight Medic. In 2012, Michael was one of only two Soldiers in the California Army National Guard selected to attend a Critical Care Paramedic course, further expanding the advanced clinical knowledge he brought to both his military and civilian EMS careers.

Michael joined Medic Ambulance Service on October 30, 1996, and became a Paramedic in 1999. He later became one of the organization’s early Community Paramedics, helping support an emerging model of care that expanded the traditional role of EMS beyond emergency response and transport.

Throughout his career, Michael has witnessed extraordinary changes in emergency medical services, from advances in equipment and technology to the evolution of clinical care and the EMS system itself. Through those changes, he has remained a steady and trusted presence at Medic Ambulance Service.

Decades of field experience have given Michael a remarkable depth of knowledge and clinical judgment that he readily brings to every call. When circumstances are at their most challenging, his calm presence, strong clinical skills, and extensive experience provide reassurance not only to his patients, but also to the crews working alongside him. His knowledge and perspective have also made a lasting impression on the many EMS professionals who have had the opportunity to work with and learn from him.

Nearly four decades in EMS represent countless patients cared for, partners supported, colleagues influenced, and changes in the profession experienced firsthand. Through his professionalism, clinical expertise, extensive knowledge, and enduring commitment to service, Michael exemplifies the dedication at the heart of emergency medical services.
