Ana Dalpe
Lead Pre-Billing & Translation Specialist
Armstrong Ambulance Service
Ana Dalpe joined Armstrong Ambulance five years ago, bringing more than 13 years of operations management experience and a strong background in leadership, customer service, and problem-solving. Although EMS and medical billing were new to her, Ana quickly developed the knowledge and expertise that have made her a valued and trusted member of Armstrong’s billing operation.
Today, Ana serves as Armstrong’s Lead Pre-billing & Translation Specialist, helping ensure patient accounts are accurate and complete before entering the billing process. Her attention to detail, understanding of insurance requirements, and commitment to resolving complex issues support both the efficiency of the department and Armstrong’s ability to receive appropriate reimbursement for the care it provides.
Ana’s impact, however, extends well beyond the technical aspects of billing. Fluent in Spanish, she serves as an important resource for Spanish-speaking patients and families, helping them navigate insurance requirements, billing questions, and other concerns that can be especially difficult to understand following an ambulance transport. By communicating directly with these patients, Ana helps Armstrong provide a higher level of service to the diverse communities it serves.
Ana understands that caring for a patient does not necessarily end when the ambulance reaches its destination. Patients and families may still face confusing questions about insurance, documentation, and financial responsibility after a medical emergency. Ana has a particular ability to listen carefully, identify the issue, explain complicated information clearly, and help determine the appropriate next steps. For many patients, simply having someone take the time to listen and provide an understandable answer can make a meaningful difference.
A significant influence on Ana’s approach to service was her dear friend, Amy, a Registered Nurse who passed away. Throughout her nursing career, Amy was known for treating patients with warmth, kindness, and compassion, particularly during difficult moments. Ana witnessed the difference Amy made by ensuring people felt heard and cared for, and she carries that example with her in the way she serves Armstrong’s patients, families, and colleagues.
Armstrong has also become an important part of Ana’s family. Her husband, Aaron, is an EMT with Armstrong, and together they are raising two young boys who have developed their own enthusiasm for EMS. They enjoy visiting Mom and Dad at work, spending time with the Armstrong team, and, of course, seeing the ambulances and other vehicles. For Ana, Armstrong is not simply where she has built her career; it has become part of her family’s life.
Through her expertise, compassion, dedication to patients, and willingness to help others, Ana demonstrates that every role within an ambulance service can make a meaningful difference in the patient experience. Armstrong Ambulance is proud to recognize Ana Dalpe as an American Ambulance Association Star of Life.
